What We're Looking For

A thorough X-ray evaluation examines multiple dimensions of spinal health:

So for every low back patient we have, we take motion study x-rays. And the reason we do that is because structurally we want to see that the spine is straight up and down from the front to back and that the hips are even here. And then when we do the side x-ray, we want to see that the bones are smooth, the disc space is nice and thick in between, and there's a curve in the low back. But when we do the motion study, what we're looking for is the coupled motion of the joints in the lumbar spine. So you want to see that the disc pinches to the area or to the side that they bend to and that it opens up on the other side. The other thing we want to see is that the spine is processed, which are the bumps on the back, turn into the direction that you're bending, which means that the joint's moving in two ways properly. By knowing which segment is not functioning properly, we can correlate it to the area of the spine of where it ends up. Where it's going to be the cell organ or tissue that's having a problem. We can pinpoint it based on our exact x-rays, where they're moving and where they're not moving to help us determine what the symptoms are and why they're going on and how we can help it. Thank you.
