About Atlas Orthogonal
What is Atlas Orthogonal?
Atlas Orthogonal is a specialized upper cervical chiropractic technique that uses a precision instrument to correct misalignment of the atlas vertebra — the topmost bone in the spine. Because the atlas directly affects brainstem and nervous system function, even a small misalignment can contribute to headaches, vertigo, neck pain, and whole-body issues.
Does it hurt? Will you crack my neck?
No. Atlas Orthogonal uses a specialized instrument that delivers a gentle, measured adjustment without any twisting, popping, or cracking. Most patients describe it as a light tap. It's one of the most precise and least forceful adjustments in chiropractic.
How is it different from regular chiropractic?
Traditional chiropractic uses manual manipulation across many areas of the spine. Atlas Orthogonal focuses specifically on the atlas vertebra using a precision instrument. By correcting the single bone that influences the entire spine's alignment, we often get results where broader adjustments fall short.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your condition and how long it's been present. Most patients notice meaningful improvement within the first few visits. Chronic conditions or complex cases may require a multi-month care plan. We'll give you a clear estimate after your initial consultation and X-rays.
SoftWave & Advanced Therapies
What is SoftWave therapy?
SoftWave is a regenerative shockwave therapy that uses acoustic waves to activate your body's stem cells and accelerate tissue repair. It's non-invasive, drug-free, and effective for chronic pain, joint issues, tendon injuries, and post-surgical recovery. It's been validated by published research, including studies at the Mayo Clinic.
What is Cranial Facial Release?
Cranial Facial Release (CFR) is an advanced technique that gently mobilizes the bones of the skull and face to release deep-seated structural restrictions. It's particularly effective for breathing disorders, chronic sinusitis, sleep apnea, and post-concussion symptoms. We're the only practice in both Winter Garden and Ocala offering CFR.
Your First Visit
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Your first visit takes about an hour. We start with a thorough consultation to understand your history and concerns, followed by a physical examination. If appropriate, we take precise digital X-rays on-site to identify the specific misalignment. We then walk you through what we found and your personalized care plan before your first adjustment.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed. You can schedule directly with us.
Should I bring anything?
Bring a photo ID, a list of current medications or supplements, and — if you are being seen after an auto accident — your auto insurance information. If you have prior imaging (X-rays, MRI), bring those too — they help us get a complete picture.
Insurance & Payment
Do you accept insurance?
We are out of network with all insurance plans and do not bill insurance for payment. Care is paid for directly, and we will explain the full cost of your recommended plan before it begins — no surprises. Many patients use an HSA or FSA, and we can provide documentation you may submit to your carrier yourself. The one exception is care after an auto accident, which is handled through Florida PIP — see below.
What if I was in a car accident?
Florida PIP (Personal Injury Protection) covers chiropractic care after an auto accident, but you must be seen within 14 days of the accident. Call us immediately — we'll help you navigate the process.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. We offer flexible payment arrangements for extended care plans. Our team will walk you through your options so you can focus on getting better, not on billing.
