So what does the brainstem have to do with low back pain? Well, everything starts in the brain, so this is the bottom of the skull. Everything starts in the brain and goes down the spinal cord before at the very top of the spinal cord is where the brainstem is. And at that location, everything from this side, the right side crosses over to the left side, and everything on the left side crosses over to the right side. So if there is a misalignment at that area it can decrease the flow of signal causing disruption down the chain or you can have a state of dis-ease through your system which can end up as a symptom. Obviously low back pain is one of those things by just a slight misalignment of the top of the neck causing that brainstem disruption.
